History.

1987

The European Communities are adopting the Single European Act. Christoph Kerres is admitted to the bar (Attorney at Law) in New York, USA.

 

1989

The Iron Curtain between Western and Eastern Europe falls and the Austrian Borders are opened eastbound. Together with Austrian colleagues Christoph Kerres is founding the law office Lambert, Grohmann & Kerres.

 

1990

Germany is reunited. Christoph Kerres is founding a branch office in Hungary.

 

1991

The Sovjet Union is breaking down and mid-European States like Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia are progressively achieving independent political structures. Christoph Kerres is advising United Technologies and other Western companies on their economical investments in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

 

1993

Austria is adopting a law for the foundation of private trusts and therefore is the only state within the European Union, which allows the foundation of trusts merely for the private intention. Christoph Kerres is founding the first private trusts for Austrian families and their members.

 

1994

The Austrian government is initiating the privatisation of public property. Christoph Kerres is advising international investors concerning the acquisition of national property.

 

1995

Austria, Finland and Sweden are joining the European Union. Christoph Kerres is advising Austrian clients in connection with the substantial legal modifications in the course of Austria´s accession to the European Union.

 

1996

Because of Austria´s accession to the European Union, a range of Austrian companies are expanding into the European region. Christoph Kerres is founding the law office Kerres & Diwok.

 

1998

Austria resolves upon the implementation of the new currency Euro as bank money and therewith initiates the monetary reform. The law office Kerres & Diwok is representing several corporations concerning the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and investments in Austria.

 

2000

Austria is presiding the Council of the European Union. Christoph Kerres is representing Telekom Austria in a process before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. 

 

2001

The government under federal Chancellor Dr Wolfgang Schüssel is inducing wide economical reforms. By this time Kerres & Diwok is employing more than twenty lawyers and for this reason transfers its office to Schubertring in Vienna.

 

2002

All over Europe the new currency Euro is implemented. Kerres is advising on several real estate transactions and representing ANA All Nippon Airways and Swissair in notable M&A transactions.

 

2004

Ten new member states are acceding to the European Union. Christoph Kerres is advising various American and European companies in connection with the reinvestment in the mid-European region.

 

2006

The grand coalition under Federal Chancellor Dr Alfred Gusenbauer takes over governmental responsibility. The office is representing the Spanish group FCC in the acquisition of the Austrian group Alpine Mayreder.

 

 

2008

Austria acts as host for the European soccer league championship EURO 2008. Claudia Hofko carries on substantial lawsuits before Austrian courts and is representing in several arbitration proceedings.

 

2010

Europe is recovering from the recession and regulates the banking sector new.
